Joyce Chen 22-Ounce Japanese Tetsubin Cast-Iron Year of the Horse Teapot, Saddle Brown
Known as "tetsubin" in Japan, these traditional cast iron teapots were originally used for brewing tea over an open flame. They have since evolved as tea servers of an extremely decorative nature. Helen Chen personally works with Japanese artists to create a new commemorative Tetsubin Teapot to celebrate and greet each Chinese New Year. The Chinese believe the animal ruling the year in which a person is born has a profound influence on personality, saying, "This is the animal that hides in your heart." The teapot for 2002 features a raised running horse motif and is enameled in a distinctive "rusty" black finish. It comes with a stainless steel infuser for use with loose tea.
Joyce Chen 25-Ounce Japanese Tetsubin Cast-Iron Year of the Monkey Teapot, Green
For several years running, the artists at Joyce Chen have created a beautiful new teapot to honor the zodiac animal associated with each Chinese New Year. These teapots are called "tetsubins," after the Japanese term for cast-iron teapots, and this Year of the Monkey Tetsubin is a handsome installment in the series. Crafted with a pleasing rounded shape, a steeply curved spout, and an arced handle, the teapot features a stylized bas-relief image of monkeys in treetops. Mossy green coloring along with spare yet elegant detailing, like the distinctive lid finial, add graceful finishing touches to the design.

The interior is coated with porcelain enamel to prevent the metal from reacting with the tea, and the infuser is stainless steel. Safe on the stovetop, the piece holds 25 ounces and should be washed by hand. --Emily Bedard

Happy Glass Tea Pot, Glass Infuser
Teapot body is 8.3cm in height with a diameter of 11.5cm. With the lid, the height is 11.5cm in total. (3.3ins in height and 4.5ins in diameter)

Capacity is 17oz

Slots in the glass infuser allow the full flavor of the leaves to seep into the water without getting tea leaves into your drink. When using the infuser, use only enough leaves for one person (1 tablespoon) which will also allow enough room for the leaves to move around and quickly brew your tea.

Features a green, round handle with graceful curled shape and a green top. The domed shape gives this pot a surprising capacity.

Glass is heat resistant and can be microwaved, but do not expose to direct heat and do not use in a normal oven.

Since this is fine, thin glassware, automatic dish-washing is not recommended, hand wash with dish detergent. Although heat resistant, the glass is not shatter proof so take care when handling.

Product of China.
